Other, will clone 2TB GPT disk to 4TB drive.Windows 10 users who perform a fresh install of the operating system won't run into issues related to the creation of Recovery Partitions on the operating system anymore starting Windows 10 version 2004 according to reports. One, will clone 2TB MBR disk to 4TB drive. I have a second computer where I will be cloning a 2TB MBR disk to a new 4TB disk so I assume then I need to keep the 128MB partition in order to convert to GPT otherwise my other (legacy only BIOS) Windows 7 system will not see the 4TB? Or does that only matter for booting. Just want to confirm exactly what is going on and what the proper procedure is. If I do this by only deleting the 3.64TB partition, and leaving the 128MB partition, and then copy the 600GB to that second partition, then the 4TB stays as GPT in Macrium (I assume since I am leaving the 128MB partition). I had read that Macrium will automatically convert a disk to GPT if you extend partition beyond 2TB, but that doesn’t seem to happen. If I try to set this up by cloning my 600GB MBR drive, when I delete the partitions from the 4TB, it changes to MBR (even if I extend the partition to cover the full size of the drive). If I clone my 2TB (which is GPT), can I delete all the 4TB partitions and just clone the one 2TB partition? When trying this (without performing the operation), it seems to be no problem with Macrium and the clone shows that it will be GPT. Or is it only if you need to boot from the drive?

My questions are: Why does the 4TB have the 128MB partition? At first I thought this is created for GPT, but my 2TB GPT does not have it.

When I open Macrium, I see the following:Ħ00GB drive – MBR Disk – one NTFS partition (558.91GB) 2TB Drive – GPT Disk - one NTFS partition (1.82TB) 4TB Drive – GPT Disk – one 128MB unformatted partition / one NTFS partition (3.64TB) I connected the 4TB to a sata dock, initialed it in disk management as GPT and created a new simple volume. I recently bought a 4TB drive to replace the 2TB drive and want to clone it over with Macrium. MY Windows 7 Pro 64bit desktop computer has 2 data hard drives.
